Missouri AG order

So the Missouri AG issued an emergency order imposing some harsh restrictions on transgender health care, things like at least 15 therapy sessions, at least 10 with the same therapist, over at least 18 months. Resolution of mental health comorbities(good luck without HRT), and other bullshit.

I've pretty much said "fuck that". Still looking into telehealth options, but some providers are unsure of what their legal status would be for Missouri patients.

There's a high likelihood I'll end up going grey market. Which is not ideal, I'd prefer everything above board and unambiguously legal, but there's no fucking way I'm complying with the AGs absolute nonsense. There is a partial grandfathering- you can stay on, but need to start complying to get your prescription renewed. Which means lots of screenings and therapy for unrelated shit. The idea that I should be expected to do that is just incredibly offensive, I'd rather just do crime.

The best grey market sources seem to all require crypto, which is not ideal but does make some sense given the legal grey area they operate in. Though most do allow Ethereum, which is now proof of stake- meaning "mining" is done by holding a certain number of coins in your wallet. Everyone with at least that much has a chance of getting a cut when more are minted. I don't like the implications of that for income inequality(one of the few ways crypto was good was, at least in theory, allowing people to get a little money just by leaving their computer on), but at least it's not burning the planet.

I would still advise any trans person who has reasonable access to above board HRT to go that route, but do what you have to do. Some their best option would be to suffer without, some will be to GTFO Missouri, some will be grey market, there might even be people who are best served by compliance(especially if they already have an extensive log of therapy sessions). Do what you need to do.

The whole situation sounds like "I want to do a genocide but don't want to personally flip the switch on the gas chambers". We can't let them win, whether it's stopping this order or bypassing it they can't be allowed to win this one.

I'll be OK even if after thoroughly exploring options I end up suffering without. It's not great, and may well get worse, but I'll be OK. I do have the long term plan set up for GTFO missouri, and having a light at the end of the tunnel helps.

It's a nightmare. None of it is backed up by any of the major medical organizations. Some of it used to be standard practice, or at least closeish, but abandoned because clinical experience which he's somehow unaware of(more likely- pretending to be unaware of) has shown it to be unnecessary and often actively harmful. And if his ignorance is, somehow, sincere and in anything resembling good faith, it's a clear show of a stunning incompetence that should be nowhere near the halls of power. I honestly don't care a whole lot whether it's malice or incompetence, it's leading to the same place and if this shithead gets reelected, fuck this state forever.

If, when I finish my degree, I get a decently paying job... I'll be able to leave. But AI is coming for programmers.

I know the ACLU and another organization are going to fight it, but I don’t know what the possibilities are for fighting an executive order. Can EOs be stayed in court the way that judicial decisions can be?

I think they can be.

At least we're not florida, which is expanding capital punishment to pedophiles, now I'm against capital punishment entirely but that isn't the worst thing I've heard in my life regarding it. But... at the same time some of the laws they're passing about drag could potentially qualify if kids are around and could be applied to trans people just going about their lives. Florida is actually setting up to do the genocide themselves rather than trying to make the targets do it.

As someone who was incredibly harmed by child molesters, I have zero problems with the theory that fewer child molesters on the planet would be a very good thing. (Pedo doesn’t automatically mean child molester; many pedos never offend against children because they’re horrified about their own desires, and many child molesters aren’t actually pedos. They molest children simply because children are the most vulnerable possible victims, not because they’re attracted specifically to children. So while many child molesters are indeed also pedos, I’m careful to ascribe responsibility to the people who are actually doing the molesting, whether they’re pedos or not.)

But unfortunately the way that we’ve applied the practices of both capital punishment and sex offender designations have been so classist, racist, and ableist, there’s no way I can support capital punishment for anything, including child molestation. We’d be killing way too many people who don’t deserve it while the rich and white ones continue to skate.

And I 100% agree that this isn’t really about child molesters. It’s about being able to target whoever they want to target.
